Lalanii Wilson Jones Is Ready To Take Over The Podcast World
For Lalanii Wilson Jones, entrepreneurship was instilled in her from a young age. She grew up watching her mother who launched one of the first Black-owned home health care agencies in the Dallas metropolitan area.
“I always knew that I was going to have my own business and it just became easier over time,” she said. “Since then, I've been building businesses and doing different things.”
Officially beginning her entrepreneurial journey in 1991, Wilson Jones went into business with her mother. At the time, her mother wanted to branch out from the partnership she was already in and create something of her own, but she did not have the fundamentals.
“I was still relatively young, but I was aware of the things that needed to be done administratively,” she said. “I was able to put all that together in a package for us so that we could be successful, get our license and move forward from there.”
Over the years, Wilson Jones has founded and developed more than 12 organizations and wrote a fiction novel. She is involved not only in the healthcare industry, but also the cosmetic and childcare industries. With the help of her leadership team, she is able to reach all of her goals and successfully build her businesses.
Entrepreneurship is not an easy job and it requires a lot of time. While balancing all of her businesses, Wilson Jones still makes time to be a glam-ma, fashionista, socialite and give back to the community that inspires her.
“I'm inspired by the people that I work with and the things that I see,” she said. “Everything is ever-changing and innovative so you have to keep up to stay relevant.”
With 30 years of entrepreneurial experience, Wilson Jones decided to share her extensive business knowledge with the world on her podcast titled Big Texas Bossin’, which launched on Sept. 30.
Dedicated to businesswomen worldwide, Big Texas Bossin’ features celebrity guests, experts and luminaries in business, fashion and various lifestyle sectors. It serves as a forum for people to share information, and their perspectives, stories and motivations. Wilson Jones shared that her guests believed that it was important to create the different platforms and services that they did because no one else was doing it for the Black community.
“I wanted to inspire [business women] to know that they have a voice, know that there are others walking the same grounds or similar grounds, … and there is a plethora of black women who are doing different things and that need to be brought to the forefront,” Wilson Jones said.
Wilson Jones hopes that listeners leave her podcast knowing they are not alone, their struggle was not in vain and to be better.
“Everybody has a struggle. No matter who they are, no matter how much money they have, no matter how much influence they have,” she said. “I want people to feel challenged to make themselves better on a daily basis.”
