Highkey Happy: Insecure Scores 8 Emmy Nominations

Among the tomfoolery and cancellations that Corona has brought us...there are a few things that can’t be cancelled like our joy over the 8 amazing Emmy nominations earned by HBO’s Insecure. One of the few joys the culture got to collectively experience this year was the anticipated fourth season that saw our characters #adulting their way through their romantic relationships and family dynamics in addition to the fallout and rekindling friendship of characters Issa (Issa Rae) and Molly (Yvonne Orji).

As one of the most popular dramedy’s to grace TV in years, Insecure is long overdue for Emmy recognition and we’re happy to report that it received nominations in the following categories:

Outstanding Casting For a Comedy Series

Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing For a Comedy Series

Outstanding Lead Actress for a Comedy Series- Issa Rae

Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series- Yvonne Orji

Outstanding Comedy Series

Outstanding Music Supervision

Outstanding Cinematography For a Single-Camera Series x 2 (episodes: Lowkey happy and Lowkey lost)

We got a double dose of goodness when Insecure got renewed for a fifth season back in May, which means we got more black excellence, comedy, love, and laughter to look forward in 2021 (or when Corona allows them to film again.) We’re over the moon for these amazing nominations and will be sitting up close with our popcorn and wine during the Emmy awards Sunday, September 20. Check out the cast reactions to their Emmy nominations below.
