Communications Director, Congresswoman Maxine Waters

Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA) seeks a highly motivated, indefatigable, and detail-oriented Communications Director for a fast-paced office. Responsibilities include working with the Member to implement a communications strategy across a broad portfolio, working closely with legislative and district staff to effectively communicate the Member’s priorities, handling some media inquiries, maintaining relationships with local reporters in CA-43, writing talking points and press releases, assisting with social media content and website management, planning and pitching press events in Los Angeles and Washington DC, overseeing daily clips, and keeping press lists up-to-date. Prior communications and press experience is preferred. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional writing and oral communication skills, the ability to multitask and prioritize under pressure, and enjoy working on a team. Ideal candidate will also have video editing and digital communications experience and experience executing communications plans across different social media platforms.
