DESCRIPTION:

This Publicist will be responsible for developing and implementing public relations campaigns for the network’s digital, new media and marketing groups, in support of the Showtime original programming slate. They will establish and maintain online and social media relationships with key entertainment, digital media and tech reporters. The candidate will also help manage the PR department’s social media presence on Twitter, Facebook and Tumblr.

The role will also support corporate communications working across various corporate initiatives within the company and working closely with internal departments. The position reports to the Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications and is based in the New York City office.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Generate press coverage for Showtime's digital and marketing campaigns and disseminate network and programming information across major social media sites. Maintain strong contacts with key entertainment, digital media and tech reporters, as well as key blogs.

  • Work with network's entertainment publicity executives to ensure that all campaigns contain social media and online coverage.

  • Provide weekly social/digital assets to talent, producers and show creators for the network’s programming.

  • Provide weekly reports for social media platforms including twitter.

  • Disseminate Showtime press releases, media alerts, photos and clips through a variety of social media platforms.

  • Provide social media coverage and updates at major Showtime events and functions including red carpet commentary and photo coverage.

  • In conjunction with the Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications, act as a liaison with Showtime’s key departments to coordinate dissemination of announcements and news to the online community and for corporate communications.

  • Support Corporate Communications team working closely with internal departments on various corporate functions and projects including HR, consumer products, marketing, digital and social.

  • Help generate story ideas and garner press for the Showtime brand and corporate communications as well as various internal departments.

  • Perform related/other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two to three years experience in media and/or publicity/communications; preferably social media and digital publicity/public relations experience.

  • Proficient in all social media platforms.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Knowledge and experience with all social media and digital platforms including Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook and Tumblr.

  • Solid relationships and knowledge of media/press contacts including press outlets who cover social and digital and trade/business press.

  • Experience in writing press releases, media alerts and copy for social media platforms.

  • A self-starter with the ability to troubleshoot.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and follow through on all projects.

  • Polite and professional manner, exercising patience and diplomacy.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
