(Washington, D.C.)  Curated by Black Girls Dope and Color Vision, Dope Black Girls Brunch, an unforgettable day honoring Black women who are trailblazing in politics, advocacy, and media, welcomed over 300 guests at The Hamilton Restaurant in Washington, D.C.

Hosted by Dr. Wendy Osefo, Professor of Education at Johns Hopkins University, Political Commentator, and Star of Bravo TV's The Real Housewives of Potomac, the brunch experience celebrated the accomplishments and the impact of a few of the most trailblazing women in media, advocacy, and politics, including this year's honorees Cathy Hughes (Founder and Chairperson of Urban One, Inc.), Adjoa B. Asamoah (Social Impact Strategist, Co-Creator CROWN Coalition), Chelsea Miller, Co-Founder Freedom March NYC, (Commentator Now This News), Minda Harts (Bestselling & award-winning author), Maya Rockeymoore Cummings, Ph.D. (Founder, President, and CEO Global Policy Solutions). The brunch was sponsored by Moet Hennessy & Buzzfeed Inc.

"This year's Dope Black Girls Brunch was one for the books! Acknowledging Black women from all walks of life and industries is of vital importance to us. If we don't celebrate each other, then who else will? The world reminds us over and over again that no matter how much we accomplish, we are still not enough. We hope that Dope Black Girls Brunch serves as a reminder to all Black women to never give in, to stay the course, to pivot when you must, and to know that we have your back," said Mia Davis, Founder of Color Vision.

Black Girls Vote & Color Vision hosted two events ahead of the Dope Black Girls Brunch, with those events being a Fireside Chat to discuss the political climate on Wednesday, August 24, and a Networking Happy Hour on Friday, August 26, hosted by Bravo TV Star Eddie Osefo to set the tone for Sunday's Dope Black Girls Brunch. For the past 5 years, this brunch event has provided a safe space for Black Women to be celebrated for their accomplishments in Media & Politics and allows them to share their experiences.

After brunch, attendees experienced:

  • a panel discussion with the honorees to learn more about their individual journeys and provide tools and encouragement to those aspiring to follow in their footsteps.

  • Networking Opportunities

  • Gift bags full of remarkable Black-owned products

  • Raffle Contest

While Dope Black Girls Brunch has concluded until next year, both Black Girls Vote and Color Vision are continuing to bring more awareness to each of their respective missions. As the 2022 midterm election approaches, Black Girls Vote is continuing to inspire, engage, and educate young women to become the voice in our political landscape by exercising their right to vote.

"At Black Girls Vote, we’re looking forward to the continued growth of our collegiate chapters, expanding membership, and increased voter registration & mobilization through our innovative outreach engagement. 2022 is an election year, so it’s important that we are effective and efficient. We have a lot of great events in store, including our 5th Annual Black Girls Vote Ball in November, where we’ll host over 800 attendees," said Nykidra Robinson, Founder of Black Girls Vote.

"Color Vision is thrilled to be expanding our mentorship program later this year to empower Black women around the country in their careers and businesses. We'll also be launching our national membership program after labor day. Check out our website for all the details," said Mia Davis, Founder of Color Vision.
