Sydney Beasley Named Winner of Color Vision + Discovery, Inc. Innovative Woman on the Rise Scholarship”

Color Vision, an organization and community for multigenerational creative women of color, has partnered with Discovery, Inc. for the Innovative Woman on the Rise Scholarship Fund. We are thrilled to announce the 2021 winner, Sydney Beasley. Beasley is a rising senior at Xavier University and has aspires to be a User Experience designer upon graduation. Read below to learn more about her.

Who Inspires you?

There are many women, all with similar qualities, whom I gain inspiration from. My mother, for example, is the strongest woman I have ever met. Not simply because she has faced adversity, but because she has grown from each moment in her life and has humility and respect for others that is very hard to find. Those qualities that I see within her are what I strive to emulate each day. I strive to have the level of humility, strength, and respect for myself and others that I see within many strong and successful women.

What career field do you hope to enter and grow in upon graduation?

The career field that I hope to enter upon graduation is User Experience (UX) Design. A UX Designer is someone who creates interfaces for apps and websites in order to make them easy to navigate and enjoyable for users. I have been interested in this field since high school and I am very close to achieving that goal!

What's one major thing you hope to accomplish in life?

One major thing I hope to accomplish in life is to travel the world. I love learning about cultures and languages and look forward to experiencing different cultures once I start traveling. Once I finish my degree in Spanish, I would love to teach abroad and help as many people as I can with the skillset that I have.
