Our 2020 Scholarship Recipients

Our Monday Motivation goes out to our 2020 Scholarship Recipients who will each be awarded $500 to use towards school needs. These amazing ladies are juniors and seniors at Howard University, University of Missouri and Columbia University. We can't wait to see how they'll leave their footprint on the world! Congratulations ladies!

Who inspires you most in the world?

My parents inspire me most in the world. They dedicated their lives to making sure that I could pursue my dreams.

What's your dream job?

My dream job is to be a storyteller. I want to dedicate my life to filmmaking and writing novels.

Where do you hope to see yourself ten years from now?

In ten years I hope to be a successful filmmaker. I hope to maintain my hope and commitment to promoting kindness.

Who inspires you most in this world?

Right now is Ms.Alicia Garza, a founder of the Black Lives Matter movement. She inspires me because her activism has caused a national conversation that is breaking down barriers and finally making our country have the conversations we need to have. In addition, her leadership along with that of her co-founders displays the strength and power of a Black woman.

What is your dream job?

My dream job is to work in college administration, currently I am interested in pursuing a J.D. and a Ph.D. I would like to teach either law or American history at the collegiate level and then continue to work my way up in college administration. I love the feel of a college campus and the liveliness of students, which is something that even as I grow older I will want to be apart of.

Where do you see yourself ten years from now?

Ten years from now I see myself being a professor, mentoring students, and working within my community to continue the work of Black Girls Vote Inc. I would hopefully be working in college administration so I see myself helping other young ladies with tips and advice that I would have wanted at their age. I want to be established in my career, and working to give to others the advice I have now along with advice I wish I had.

Who inspires you most in the world?

The person who inspires me most in this world is former First Lady Michelle Obama. I truly admire her confidence, class, and her character. I hope to one day be a great leader and role model just like her.

What is your dream job?

My dream job is to be a screenwriter for television and movies. I want to tell the stories of my community in a positive light. I hope to bring meaningful stories to the big or small screens someday in the near future.

Where do you see yourself ten years from now?

Ten years from now I hope that I am paving a new path for future generations of artists in creative spaces. I hope to inspire young women all across the world to chase their dreams and break barriers. I see myself giving back to my community that has given so much to me. In ten years from now I know that I will be walking fiercely into my God given purpose.

Who inspires you most in the world?

The person who inspires me the most in the world is my older sister Ashanti. Although we are only two years apart, I look to her as more than a sister, but also a role model. Ashanti has taught me what it means to have faith and courage, even in times of insecurity and uncertainty. She is morally strong, dedicated to everything she does, and unable to be told the words “no” or “can’t”; Ashanti is, and always will be, my biggest inspiration.

What is your dream job?

My dream job is to be a voice for the silenced and an advocate for the overlooked. I may not know the professional title for my dream job, but I know that I want to lead my people to civil justice and equality.

Where do you see yourself ten years from now?

Ten years from now I hope to see myself fully involved in my community and having fulfilled, or still be in the process of fulfilling, my duty of helping my people rejoice in their freedom from systemic oppression and ultimately living without fear.
