Queen Latifah Starts Mentorship Program to Support Aspiring Female Filmmakers
Actress and music star Queen Latifah is leading one effort to bring equality to cinema. She started The Queen Collective, a mentorship program for aspiring female filmmakers, to help young directors achieve their dreams.
Queen partnered with Proctor and Gamble and the Tribeca Film Festival to excel gender and racial equality behind the camera. Through The Queen Collective, shes mentored these up and coming directors helping them with financing, production, and distribution.
When asked about the lack of women directors Queen Latifah stated, “People are used to doing things, the way they do them. Change can be uncomfortable until it happens.”
