Black Woman Comedy Sketch Show Is Coming to HBO

HBO is coming out with a new sketch show, ‘A Black Lady Sketch Show’ that will have Quinta Brunson, Gabrielle Dennis, Ashley Nicole Black, and the show’s creator, Robin Thede. Issa Rae will serve as the series’ executive producer.

A Black Lady Sketch Show will feature narrative sketches performed by a core cast of black women, including Thede, as well as celebrity guests. It is the first sketch comedy written, directed and starring Black women.

Lauren Ashley Smith, who was the head writer on BET's short-lived The Rundown with Robin Thede, will be head writer and co-exec producer for A Black Lady Sketch Show.
