The Breath Of Fresh Air Television Needs is Found in Love Is

Love Is, the much publicized show based on the real life story of Hollywood producer and director Mara and Salim Akil premiered on Oprah Winfrey Network this past Tuesday and it's everything we hoped it would be. Mara Akil the creator of  "Girlfriends" and "Being Mary Jane," and her husband, Salim Akil, the showrunner on "Black Lightning," are one of Hollywood'S s it couple's and we've been counting down the days to get an inside look over there never before told love Story. Here are our top four reasons you must tune in every week:

  1. A breath of fresh air-the show is different from every thing that's on television right now and actually includes fresh faces.  Nuri (Wendy Davis) and Yasir (Clarke Peters) are truly the perfect match and they're impossible to take your eyes off of while watching.

  2. The 90's- The Akil's did the perfect job of making us literally feel the 90's through our television sets. The clothes, the old school television sets, the lingo, the design, it truly is 90's nostalgia.

  3. The Struggle- As creators we often get caught up in the age of social media and comparing our lives to everyone else's. It's refreshing to hear the story of the Akil's and how their life in Hollywood was no easy feat.

  4. True Love- So often we see the end game for many of our favorite creators happily ever after, but from the first episode you can already see that the Akil's are not holding back from showing the good and the bad of their true love story.

We'll be tuned in every Tuesday night at 10 p.m. on Oprah Winfrey Network and you should too!
