Recap: The Wing Opens Its Doors In D.C.

The past two years have been extremely tough for women, although it seems like every year is tough for women. It is hard enough that we have always suffered when it comes to equal pay, equal jobs and equal opportunity throughout history, but in 2016, we lost the chance at having our first ever woman president in the White House and it has not stopped going downhill since. The last quarter of 2017 the “times up” and “me too” movement came to the limelight as women from all across the world sought safe spaces and safe environments to tell their stories.

During all of this The Wing founders Lauren Kassan & Audrey Gelman opened their first creative work space for women in Manhattan in October of 2016 only three short weeks before Hillary Clinton lost the election. Kassan, is also a founder of Class Pass and Gelman is media industry exec who worked on Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign and who served as the spokeswoman New York City Comptroller Scott Stringer.

It was only a matter of time before Kassan and Gelman brought The Wing to D.C., after all their mission of “advancement of women through community,” fits in with the mass progressive movement of women in the D.M.V. area.

Last night, our team here at Color Vision had the privilege of checking out the grand opening of its newest location in Georgetown and we were beyond impressed. The spacious coven features a ton of well-designed seating options for you to get comfortable in while you work away, a café, a gallery, merchandise and even a library full of books all written by women. We adored the digs called “personal space,” which featured bathrooms, a breast pump room for moms, a place to do your make up and even change (how convenient!) with lockers included. It is the perfect place to escape to get some quiet time, catch up with your girlfriends, and work on a big project.

The Wing is also coming to London, West Hollywood, San Francisco, Toronto and Seattle. Although it is only two years old they are spreading fast and rightfully so. Interested in becoming a member? Head to https://www.the-wing.com
