Black Panther has shot at having the biggest February debut ever!
Honestly, I have not been the biggest Marvel fan in the world, but, when I heard that “Black Panther” would be released in February. I automatically became excited.
And then when I heard who the cast members would be I almost fell out my chair. With cast members like Angela Bassett, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Forest Whitaker, Daniel Kaluuya and Chadwick Boseman this movie is destined to be great!
The crown for the world’s greatest black superhero has always been worn by the Black Panther. T’Challa the man under the mask, is a king who rules an African nation that has never been invaded, one that’s the most technologically advanced society in the Marvel universe. He’s bee an Avenger, married and divorced, a member of the X-Men and helped fend off aliens. Few Marvel characters come close to matching his intelligence and he’s traded punches with some of the greatest heroes and villains around and stood tall in the end.
Sounds like a badass to me!!!
Heck, even his grandfather punched Captain America once. You just can’t get any better!
So far, “Black Panther” is this year’s most tweeted-about film. It’s selling more advance Imax tickets than any other Marvel movie. And now according to tracking estimates, it’s got a real shot at having the biggest February debut ever. The film is continuing to elevate its box-office expectations when it officially opens. From early predictions of $120 million for the four-day holiday weekend to newer studio estimates of $150 million. Now, tracking estimates are putting the film’s domestic debut at somewhere between $165 million and $170 million, according to the Hollywood Reporter and Variety.
“Black Panther” which lands precisely a decade after, “Iron Man”’ effectively launched the Marvel Cinematic Universe stars Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa, the Avenger who’s the royal leader of the fictional African nation of Wakanda, as created in 1966 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.
“Black Panther” has an average aggregate score of 87 on Metacritic, as well as 97 percent certified “fresh” score on Rotten Tomatoes-the highest for a Marvel Universe film.
I am super excited about this movie and hope you are too!! Go see the movie this weekend! But, what are you going to wear?
